Chans Valdez

ValdezChans Valdez is an SDSCPA alumni (class of 2012) and a graduate from SDSU (2017) with a Bachelor's in Music Performance.

She began piano lessons at age 9 and from there went on to accompany various choirs and musicals by the age of 12. Chans also learned the violin through public education having been a former student of Tamara Paige! She later studied jazz and collaborated with many other musicians in college eventually becoming a gigging musician, choir director, and a piano instructor in San Diego. A highlight of her musical experiences came in her sophomore year of high school with a collaboration between SCPA and the SD Repertory Theatre for the west coast premiere of "Hairspray" where she met the award winning composer Marc Shaimon. In her senior year of college, she had the privilege to record on a 2 CD set jazz album with her peers at the notable Studio West which became the first collaboration between the SDSU jazz and recording majors.

She hopes that she can inspire students to believe anything is possible and achievable. That music is FUN. And that by expressing ourselves, we uncover who we are and all we can become. Chans believes that learning is a gateway to your greatest self.

She enjoys other crafts and has a passion for movies, cooking, long walks, and krav maga.
