What You Can Do

Dear SCPA Family Friends,

The San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts is a remarkable magnet school for young aspiring artists in grades six through twelve. Our faculty and staff are committed to creating a nurturing environment for 1,500 students with a passion for the arts and a commitment to academic excellence. Since 1987, our alumni have continued their studies at universities and conservatories across the nation, including UCLA, Juilliard, the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Oberlin Conservatory, the Arts Center of Pasadena, Boston Conservatory, the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and New York University Tisch School of the Arts. SCPA counts Tony Award winners amongst its alumni, along with countless other remarkable graduates who are working professionally in the artistic arena. Tony Award winners Sara Ramirez (currently starring in Grey's Anatomy) and Christian Hoff (currently on tour as a member of The Midtown Men and who also starred on Broadway in Jersey Boys) are just two of our notable graduates.

As our list of achievements and success stories grow, sadly, our budget continues to decline. Despite countless studies showing the benefits of an arts education, the dollars to support it are minimal. How can you help? Checkout the tabs labeled:

These programs have been set-up to help raise funds or collect items for SD SCPA. No amount of exhaustive work and dedication will offset the reality that to provide an exceptional arts education, we need financial resources. We must rely on the community to help fill the significant gap between our public funding and school needs.

Although voluntary, know your participation in any of these programs will support both academic and art curriculums at SD SCPA. Funds are required to help provide quality materials for our Visual Art department such as charcoal pencils, pastel squares and watercolor sets. Instruments for the Music department, scripts for the Drama department, tights and leotards for the Dance department and much more are needed. Just as necessary are lab supplies for the Science department, manipulatives for the Math department and research tools for the English department. In addition, Friends of SCPA helps pay for professional guest artists to work with students, guest speakers, field trips, competition fees, AP registration fees and more. The possibilities for your gift to enhance our students' development are endless!

When you support Friends of SCPA, your contribution directly supports students working to achieve their dreams. The arts empower many youth to finish school and turn their dream into a reality. Your tax-deductible donation has a tremendous impact on the day-to-day life of our children - our future. Every gift matters. No amount is insignificant. With your generous support, SCPA students will continue to go on to become college graduates, accomplished artists and contributing citizens and leaders.

Please give today!
